‘Zha-toe-Bah’

Jatobá is a design-led interiors and objects brand with a warm, material-focused identity. Rooted in craftsmanship and tactility, the brand explores the beauty of handmade objects, ceramics, tiles, textiles, natural textures, and contemporary interior forms.

The name Jatobá (pronounced “ZHA-toe-Bah”) is derived from the Brazilian hardwood Hymenaea courbaril, commonly known as Brazilian Cherry. This exceptionally hard and durable exotic timber is native to South and Central America, including Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Venezuela, Suriname, Nicaragua, Mexico, Guatemala, and the wider Caribbean region. Celebrated for its rich reddish-brown tones and strength, Jatobá reflects the brand’s grounding in natural materials, longevity, and expressive surface qualities.

At its core, Jatobá takes an intimate approach to home, object design, and integrative workshops. The practice brings together design and making, encouraging participation, experimentation, and a deeper connection to materials and process. Through thoughtfully crafted objects and hands-on experiences, Jatobá creates a world where everyday items are considered, tactile, and enduring.
